Job description

- Thai Nationality
- To teach Piano and be an accompanist; this will also involve some classroom teaching as required, extra-curricular involvement and tutorial support.

Qualification

Piano teacher

1.To teach students from Year 1 to 13 where required

2.Students should be actively encouraged to read pitch and rhythm notation from the earliest age

3.Where appropriate students should be prepared for ABRSM or Rock School examinations

4.Aural and sight-reading should take place within the lessons when possible, additional group aural sessions can also be offered

5.Students must have a notebook and clear instructions for practice at home

6.All communication with parents must be by school e-mail - no social media

7.Digital register must be kept up-to-date on a daily basis to avoid unnecessary invoice queries

Accompanist

  • To accompany Primary choral lessons
  • To accompany Primary Cantamus choir, Secondary Singers and Other ensembles at the discretion of the Head of Performing Arts
  • To accompany ABRSM exam candidates
  • To work with IGCSE and IB students on their solo performances and provide accompaniment for their academic portfolios and other performances
  • To accompany all productions, KS1 through to Secondary Production from rehearsal process to production, working with whole cast, chorus and soloists as required       

The most important requirements are to use your musicianship to improve that of our students by leading by example and being flexible in a growing music department. Members of the Performing Arts Department should actively support all Performing Arts events, and, where possible, all school events.

A Classroom teacher is also expected to:

8. Plan and teach lessons and sequences of lessons to the classes assigned to teach within the context of the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work.

9. To demonstrate good teaching practice, leading to improved learning outcomes for all students.

10. To fulfil all professional obligations relating to the administration and delivery of the curriculum as detailed by the administration; these include:

  • meeting all deadlines
  • fulfilling timetable commitments
  • fulfilling supervisory duties as outlined at the beginning of each academic year
  • maintenance of assessment records
  • writing of reports
  • participate in arrangements for preparing students for external examinations
  • maintaining good order and discipline among students in accordance with the school’s procedures, to encourage excellent learning habits with regard to punctuality, behavior, standards of work/homework

11. To be familiar with, and to implement, all school policies relevant to the delivery of the school curriculum and to the administrative operations of the school.

12. To attend professional and operational meetings as determined by the school administration (faculty, parent evenings, accreditation processes – CIS, NEASC etc).

13. To bring all matters of concern to the attention of the appropriate administrator.

14. To maintain up to date safeguarding training and fulfil safeguarding responsibilities as required

15. To remain abreast of developments in education generally, but specifically within areas of pedagogical responsibility (IBDP & IGCSE included).

16. To undertake professional development in IT skills to the minimum level required by the school.

17. To be actively involved in the school’s extra-curricular and community service programmes.

18. To attend major functions/events at the request of the Principal.

19. To undertake a formal performance management evaluation every contract, and to review this evaluation with the Principal or Deputy Principal.

20. To assist in the maintenance of resources and work with others on curriculum development.

21. To contribute, through faculty meetings, to the review and development of school policies, practices and procedures and to implement them as required.
