Job description

Purpose of the role

The Senior Communications Officer will lead on communications to parents to aid retention and service delivery. They will be a natural storyteller, with a passion for and understanding of education.

The specific duties of this position are listed below:

  • Lead on the mapping, creation and implementation of communications to our parents, students and current stakeholders. (School website news section (blog), social media channels, direct comms to parents via isams, comms surveys, publishing plan, comms plan etc) 
  • Define key performance indicators for each internal communications channel which will indicate a campaign's level of success ( likes, shares, net promoter score, brand awareness etc) 
  • Determine strategic communications campaigns that will help further organizational goals (Leaders for Tomorrow, University Offers campaign, Let's get to know.. etc) 
  • Create internal communications protocols and initiatives that will foster stakeholder moral (regular meetings with DP's of each school and establishment of systems/procedures to gather news from section heads etc) 
  • Oversee the creation of marketing and communications collateral to ensure that it is consistent with the organization's brand, including white papers, website copy, and more (brochures, posters, etc) 
  • Write and deliver internal communications to increase awareness of the school’s offerings (event-specific comms to parents via isams - i.e sports tournaments, Musicals, summer sessions)

External communications support

  • Support external facing marketing communications campaigns and strategies and monitor their success (providing stories/content to Marketing Manager for external use/publications) 
  • Represent the school at events and press conferences 
  • Reach out to influencers, media and beyond in order to arrange story placement on a national and global level (pitching news, press releases etc) 

Qualification

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years prior experience working in a marketing or communications role 
  • Proven success designing and executing marketing and communications strategies and campaigns 
  • Up to date on industry trends and able to stay ahead of the curve 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines  
  • Must be able to think analytically and strategically 
  • Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently 
  • Great multitasker and capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines 
  • Familiarity or experience working with CRM software is an asset 
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills in English
