Job description

An exciting opportunity at a brand-new state-of-the-art campus at Wellington College International School Bangkok. (WCIB).  Following in the tradition of the renowned Wellington College in the UK, WCIB is proud to be the first Wellington College International School to open in the ASEAN region, bringing an international school of high reputation to Thailand to prepare pupils to learn and live according to Wellington’s Identity and Values. 

After completing phase I construction of a new campus, WCIB opened classes In August 2018 for Pre-Nursery to Year 6. Phase II construction is underway and the School plans to open Year 9 - Year 13 after completion. The School follows the English National Curriculum, GCSEs followed by A level or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

Wellington College International School Bangkok is open to children of all nationalities. The focus is to prepare students to succeed in the world of tomorrow. WCIB is a day school, with plans to provide boarding facilities in the next few years.

The School is situated in the Krungthep Kreetha area of eastern Bangkok, approximately at the midpoint between Bangkok City Center and the Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). It is situated on 50 rai (20 Acres) of lush green land with a pond and recreational lake, next to a golf course and growing urban family neighborhoods.

Qualification

BURSAR / DIRECTOR OF FINANCE & OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Master, the Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 

A.    Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervision and evaluation of all local support staff in accounting, human resources, IT, purchasing, transportation, business and facilities operations.
  • Serves on and/or collaborates with appropriate school committees as well as liaises with various other campus groups, such as employee or parent committee groups.
  • Maintains a flexible schedule that ensures business and operations needs are met.
  • Ensure that all Board and School practices, policies, and processes are maintained and adhered to.
  • Collaborates with the leadership team on resource needs in support of curriculum and policy related issues to ensure alignment between funding and delivery of program.
  • Leads the budget development process with Leadership Team.
  • Leads leadership team on safety and security for facilities and crisis management for handling emergency situations.

B. Business and Operations

  •  Coordinates and participates in the planning and implementation of systems that ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Facilitates the leadership team members on the development, monitoring, and management of the operating and capital budgets in support of the program delivery needs.
  • Chairs Facilities Committee and coordinates with the Master in leading implementation of the master facility plan.
  • Coordinates with maintenance office on facilities planning, maintenance, repairs, and renovation, including budgeting, bid and quotation and evaluation, and planning and supervision of work to be complete.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage all budgets with both a short-term and long-term financial planning view.
  • Prepare and communicate budget, financial results, and audit report to the Committees and the Board as required.
  • Manage and account for capital assets and financial resources to promote maximum efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate, monitor and manage school contracted services and benefit programs
  • Remain current in relation to accounting, auditing, facilities and operations, and tax requirements.
  • Researches, recommends and participates in planning, implementing and managing an integrated school information system

C. Human Resources

  •  Collaborates with Master’s office on staffing, hiring, and retention for all faculty and staff.
  • Analyze and evaluate compensation packages for leadership, faculty, and staff and make timely recommendations to the Master and the Board regarding competitive compensation as well as employment rules, guidelines, and job descriptions.
  • Facilitates document completion and relocation process for new staff hired by WCIB, including planning and participation for orientation program.
  • Assist Master’s office in monitoring and maintaining official human resource files for all faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate with leadership team to ensure appropriate working conditions for all faculty and staff

D. Professional Growth

  • Participates in ongoing professional development activities related to school business and operations, education, and school leadership. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:       

  • Recognized accounting designation or equivalent formal qualifications and experience in Finance and Administration, Business Management, Accounting
  • Highly proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Organized, self-motivated, and flexible
  • Outstanding communication/presenting skills
  • Demonstrated competency in budgeting, finance and business administration
  • Preferred Leadership experience in a cross-cultural environment, preferably in an international school.
