British International School, Phuket (BISP), is an English medium, co-educational, day and boarding school that was established in 1996 in the heart of Phuket, Thailand. Its purpose-built 44 acre campus includes high quality boarding accommodation and provides world-class facilities that enable students to excel in sports and the expressive arts, as well as in their studies. The student population consists of some 870 day and boarding students with over 60 different nationalities represented. The majority of the student body (more than 60%) are foreign nationals.

Job description

Scope

This is a senior managerial position to establish the British International Schoolas the ‘market leader’ in international education in the Asian region. As a naturalconsequence of this an increase in enrolment of at least 50 to 100 boardingstudents would be expected over the next two years.

The post holder would be responsible for all aspects of admissions, including:supervision of the admissions team to ensure an excellent ‘front of house’service; all documentation relating to entry, including scholarship applications(in consultation with the academic management); all website and on‐lineinformation relating to entry into the school. The Registrar is responsible for thepreparation of admission documents and visa applications.

The Director is responsible for developing an effective marketing and outreachstrategy to enhance the profile of the school targeting potential markets aroundthe world. In pursuit of this, and working closely with the Headmaster, theestablishment of an international network of agents and media outlets would beexpected.

It will be the responsibility of the Director to identify and communicate keyselling points of the school, and to assist all sections of the school in thedevelopment of good marketing profiles, both digitally and in the print media.This will require: a close supervision of the work of the Digital/on‐line officer;strategy and supervision of social media; the production of appropriate andeffective graphics to support the school brand; the ability to write copy or editwhenever necessary.

Good presentation skills and a strong personal presence are essential, and travelto access markets may become a significant responsibility of the post‐holder.Creativity and initiative are essential attributes.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Admissions:

  • To supervise all admissions personnel (registrar, visa officer, greeting andschool tours officer, receptionist);
  • To create a good, welcoming ambiance in the ‘front of house’;
  • To ensure that all documentation relating to Admissions is of the higheststandard in terms of content, grammar and syntax, and format;
  • To ensure that the admissions website portal is of the highest quality interms of accessibility, information and ease of communication;
  • To ensure that school tours are conducted efficiently and to maximumeffect for the school;
  • To support the admissions team in its task during particularly busyperiods.
  • To liaise closely with the school Principals who will make all finaldecisions relating to the entry of students.

 

Marketing

  • To develop, with the Headmaster, a strong marketing strategy for theschool;
  • To be responsible for the Marketing budget;
  • To identify effective and use advertising outlets;
  • To supervise the digital and on‐line presence of the school, and to monitorthe quality and efficacy of the school website;
  • To ensure that all social media outlets are used effectively;
  • To write and monitor copy for digital and print communication andadvertising;
  • To work closely with various sections of the school to produce effectivemarketing profiles;
  • To establish a network of student recruitment agents and to monitor theireffectiveness;
  • To produce digital presentations for the recruitment agents;
  • To identify partners and seek cooperation in developing the assets of theschool;
  • To seek sponsorship for the various sections of the school;
  • To make presentations as required by the Senior Management;
  • To market, and be present at, all major school events (including ‘SummerCamps’); to work collaboratively with the Events team.
  • To work closely with BISTECH in the development of in‐house digitalmarketing.

Qualification

Personal Qualities

  • Creativity and initiative;

  • Good computer skills (preferably with website design experience);
  • Strong collaborative and team‐player skills;
  • Native level of spoken and written English;
  • Well‐organized and good report writing skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing or a related field;
  • Degree in Computing or evidence of strong computing skills;
  • Five years experience in a marketing role;
  • Previous managerial experience;
  • Experience in an international setting.(Previous experience within an international school would be beneficial,though not essential.
