Brighton College is delighted to be opening its first sister school in Bangkok, one of South East Asia’s most vibrant and successful capital cities. Brighton College Bangkok will open in August 2016, on an iconic and purpose-built 17-acre campus in central Bangkok, and will be comprised of a Pre-Prep (for 500 pupils aged 2 to 8), a Prep School (for 600 pupils aged 8 to 13) and a Senior School (for 400 pupils aged 13 to 18), with a pupil capacity of 1,500. It will aspire to become one of Asia’s leading schools.

 

Brighton College Bangkok will deliver the Brighton College curriculum, leading to IGCSEs and A-levels/IB Diploma, and its pupils will aspire to the leading universities of the world, including Oxbridge and the US Ivy League. The College will seek accreditation from COBIS and the ISC, and Membership of the HMC and IAPS.

Job description

Brighton College Bangkok wishes to recruit a Registrar to lead on pupil recruitment and manage its Admissions Office. The successful candidate will join the Senior Management Team of the College and work closely with the Headmaster to deliver an outstanding pupil admissions function.

 

REGISTRAR

The Registrar will have:

  • An excellent track record in marketing and recruitment gained in the education sector or similar, capable of leading successfully the College’s total marketing and recruitment functions;
  • A target-focused perspective focused upon delivering results, working closely with the Headmaster as an integral member of the College’s Senior Management Team;
  • A positive personality with excellent communication skills to engage the wide range of audiences across Thailand and beyond. 

 

Structure and Accountability of the Role

  • This appointment will be made by Brighton College International Schools in the UK and the College’s Thai operating company.
  • The Registrar will report frequently, formally and informally, to the Headmaster. He or she will be accountable to the Headmaster with a weekly review of activities and forecast of events and issues.
  • There will be an annual appraisal and termly assessments of progress, with agreed key performance indicators.
  • The Registrar will be a member of the College’s Senior Management Team, attend all of its meetings and report at meetings of the Board of Governors as required by the Headmaster.
  • In addition to the Headmaster, key relationships will include other members of the Senior Management Team and the Director of Schools of Brighton College International Schools in the UK.

 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Overall responsibility for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and recruitment strategy for Brighton College Bangkok, with measurable and costed plans for achieving specific targets;
  • Research and development of opportunities, strategies and mediums for promoting the College in Thailand and across South East Asia;
  • Work with the Headmaster to ensure that the College is represented at key recruitment events and exhibitions locally, in the wider region or overseas;
  • Oversee the development and placing of advertisements and entries for the College in the local and regional media and relevant directories or guides;
  • Willing to participate in relevant bodies and associations such as AMDIS (Association of Marketing Directors in Independent Schools), COBIS and FOBISIA etc.

Qualification

Person Specification

  • High quality and proven experience of marketing and external communications/PR, preferably gained within British Independent education or a similar area in the charity or commercial sector
  • An analytical and intelligent mind capable of undertaking independent research, and an ability to communicate succinctly, effectively and attractively both orally and in writing
  • A target-focused team player with a positive personality; an excellent communicator whose professionalism will match the aspirations of Brighton College Bangkok to become one of the leading British schools in Thailand
  • An awareness of branding, image and style, and an understanding of what influences customers and persuades families to choose a Brighton College education for their children
  • Capacity to produce and articulate successful marketing campaigns
  • A warm personality with the ability to lead a team and work in harmony with the wider College community
  • Flair in identifying national and international networks, and co-operating with them to promote an awareness of Brighton College Bangkok
  • It would also be helpful to have relevant higher qualifications in marketing, communication or business, and to be educated to degree level
