Brighton College is delighted to be opening its first sister school in Bangkok, one of South East Asia’s most vibrant and successful capital cities. Brighton College Bangkok will open in August 2016, on an iconic and purpose-built 17-acre campus in central Bangkok, and will be comprised of a Pre-Prep (for 500 pupils aged 2 to 8), a Prep School (for 600 pupils aged 8 to 13) and a Senior School (for 400 pupils aged 13 to 18), with a pupil capacity of 1,500. It will aspire to become one of Asia’s leading schools.

 

Brighton College Bangkok will deliver the Brighton College curriculum, leading to IGCSEs and A-levels/IB Diploma, and its pupils will aspire to the leading universities of the world, including Oxbridge and the US Ivy League. The College will seek accreditation from COBIS and the ISC, and Membership of the HMC and IAPS.

Job description

THE ROLE

Job title  :  Senior Accountant

Responsible for  :  Managing the College’s financial functions

Responsible to  :  The Bursar

 

Responsibilities

  • Management of the finance function for Brighton College Bangkok
  • To ensure a suitable control environment exists over the finance function
  • Monthly preparation and management of the College accounts and key variance analysis
  • Management of the purchase ledger function, ensuring the timely payment of suppliers
  • Timely management of each termly bill run, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Strict management of debtors to ensure timely payments and optimisation of cash flow
  • Management of fee remissions, including Scholarships and Bursaries
  • Management and collation of the annual operating budget
  • Supervision of the external audit; preparation of the first draft of the statutory accounts and consolidated accounts
  • Completion of annual returns and filing of statutory accounts
  • Completion of College’s financial returns to the Thai authorities
  • Attendance at Governors’ meetings as required
  • To ensure the timely payment of suppliers and staff; authorisation of all BACS and cheque payments
  • Assist the Bursar with the preparation of long-term financial forecasts including I & E account, cash flow forecast and balance sheets
  • Liaison with academic and support staff, including budget monitoring and sanctions
  • Any other reasonable management request

Qualification

The successful candidate is likely to have the following attributes:

  • Fully qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA or equivalent desirable)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Personable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Excellent IT literacy advanced Excel skills

 

REMUNERATION

An attractive salary package commensurate with the responsibility of the post will be offered.  This will be reviewed annually.
