Job description

The Nutrition Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office is seeking an individual consultant to provide support to the development of various reports and documentation of meetings and workshops in the closing phase of the Maternal and Young Child Nutrition Security Initiative in Asia (MYCNSIA), including a joint nutrition report with ASEAN.

 

Work Assignment:

Under the supervision of the Nutrition Specialist and with oversight from the Regional Nutrition Advisor, the consultant will undertake the following assignments:

I.   ASEAN nutrition report (35 days)

II.  Synthesis report of technical consultation on severe acute malnutrition and an article for ENN Field Exchange (15 working days)

III.  Synthesis report of technical consultation on universal salt iodization, and final draft of a manuscript for a relevant journal (TBD) (10 days)
IV. Support preparations and synthesis report of MYNCSIA final evaluation and endline survey dissemination workshop and produce a manuscript(s) for a relevant journal (25 days)

V. Preparations and synthesis report of SUN-UNICEF financial tracking-costing workshop (15 days)

VI. Any additional tasks as agreed with the contract supervisor

 

Deliverables:

  • First and Final drafts of the ASEAN Nutrition Report (35%)
  • Report of the SAM technical consultation and article for ENN Field Exchange (15%)
  • USI technical consultation report and final draft manuscript for journal (10%)
  • Journal article (final draft manuscript for submission) on MYCNSIA final results (25%)
  • Report of SUN-UNICEF financial tracking-costing workshop (15%)

 

Estimated Duration of Contract: 100 working days during the period 22 June – 31 December 2015

Qualification

Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • Advanced university degree in public health or nutrition or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of solid responsible professional experience in planning and implementing Nutrition
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of another UN language an asset
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Proven experience in writing articles, reports, publications
