Job description

The HIV & AIDS section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office is seeking an individual consultant to prepare the regional and country progress update report on elimination of parents-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis in Asia and the Pacific and to assist in the organization of the 10th Asia-Pacific PPTCT Task Force Meeting in Beijing, China during 15-17 September 2015.

 

Work Assignment:

  • Prepare regional and country progress update on elimination of parents-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis for countries in the Asia-Pacific region (i.e. updating country factsheet template for ePTCT website and preparing detailed update on each country for the background document – PPTCT TF meeting in Beijing) including gathering key ePTCT and Syphilis related documents from the country offices.
  • Attend the 10th Asia Pacific Prevention of Parents-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis Task Force Meeting, September 2015.
  • Provide technical inputs during the meeting on prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and Syphilis.
  • Support drafting of conclusions and recommendations for presentation at final day of the 10th Asia Pacific Prevention of Parents-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis Task Force Meetings.
  • Draft and finalize a meeting report of the 10th Asia Pacific Prevention of Parents-to-Child transmission of HIV and Syphilis in Asia and the Pacific.

 

Work Schedule:

  • Regional and country progress update report on elimination of parents-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis in Asia and the Pacific, 30 July 2015 (20 days)
  • Rapporteur at the PPTCT Task Force meeting, 14 – 18 September (5 days)
  • Final conclusions and recommendations of the 10th Asia Pacific Prevention of Parents-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis Task Force Meeting, 31 October 2015 (4 days)
  • Meeting report of the 10th Asia Pacific Prevention of Parents-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis Task Force Meeting, 20 October 2015 (6 days)


Deliverables:

  • Final regional and country progress report.
  • Final conclusions and recommendations of the 10th Asia Pacific Prevention of Parents-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis Task Force Meeting.
  • Meeting report of the 10th Asia Pacific Prevention of Parents-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis Task Force Meeting.

 

Estimated Duration of Contract: 20 May – 20 October 2015 (5 months)

 

Official Travel: The Consultant is expected to travel to Beijing, China, to participate in the 10th Asia pacific Prevention of Parents-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis during the week of 14-18 September 2015

Qualification

Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in social science, communication, public health, or related field;
  • 5 years progressive experience in programme planning and data management at international level of which at least 3 years in the areas of HIV/AIDS, especially prevention of parent-to-child transmission of HIV and Syphilis;
  • High quality oral and written communication skills, including proven ability to conceptualize, analyze and articulate ideas in writing for all types of media and audiences;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with little supervision, both independently and a member of a multicultural team;
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, analyze, plan and manage programmes as well as to transfer knowledge and information;
  • Knowledge of computer management and familiarity in applications including Word, PPT, Excel including basic skills in web content management and Internet searches;
  • Flexible, proactive, takes initiative, and works well under time pressure and able to work independently and effectively in a team.
