          Plan Asia Regional Office is looking for the following position to join our team. This is a local recruitment. The successful candidates will be offered package competitive to the local market. Please note that Plan will not be able to provide residential visa and work permit.

Job description

Department & Location : ARO Regional office, Communication Team

Reports to : Acting Regional Communication Manager, ARO

Purpose : In order to achieve its 2015 Strategy, Plan determines to its internal Collaboration through “ One Plan” approach. The Internal Communication Intern will help to maintain communications culture in Plan regionally and Globally, focused mainly on producing updates and helping to manage Media Bank and Planet. May also assist with brand implementation and global website overhaul.

 

Dimensions of Role :

This is a 3-month internship suitable for a recent graduate or senior level student in communications, and/or international development , or an entry-level communications professional seeking experience in the international NGO sector.Fluency in Thai and English languages is essential

The internal Communications Intern works in collaboration with the other members of the regional communication team and with country communication colleagues and other staff contributing to internal communications. S/he works with other staff an consultants hired to support regional communication work and has no direct budget management responsibilities.

The job role of internal communications intern is a hands-on position that deals with the regular dissemination of information to internal audiences, sourcing of organizational news and writing for a range of internal contexts as well as providing advice and coordination of internal communication initiatives concerning countries, the region, and the global organization.This is a busy and challenging role for an motivated communications graduate or senior level-student who is looking for hands –on experience working in communications in the international development sector. The role requires the ability to work with limited supervision and encourages technological initiative , in an ever-changing and multinational work environment.

 

Typical Responsibilities - Key End Results of Position:

  • Plan staff in the region are informed of up-to-date news and information related to changes and programs
  • Write and edit a range of communications for internal Plan audiences including updating Plan’s intranet, staff magazine and regional Team Briefing.
  • Write and disseminate the weekly Regional Update email throughout the Plan network.
  • Manage global and regional Team Briefing dissemination.

 

Plan’s profile in the region is raised through quality production and dissemination of different corporate materials.

  • Produce a range of internal communication materials such as corporate brochures, videos, induction materials, and presentations. 
  • Regularly update and maintain Plan’s Media Bank database in conjunction with global standards, including appropriate tagging and sorting of regional photos, videos, and documents.
  • Support the production of regional external publications, and media events and initiatives.
  • Assisting with design, layout, and photographic editing, as required.

 

Plan Asia continuously contributes to reinforcing our commitment to quality, accessible internal communications :

  • Working with the Communications Manager, aid with planned rollout of the new global brand standard between April – June 2015. 
  • Working with the Regional , International, and Country communications teams, aid with the roll out of the new Plan website, including migration of existing content to the new platform.

 

Communications and Working Relationships :

  • Report to Regional Communications Manager
  • Country Communication Staff and the Regional program & communication teams
  • International Head quarter (IH)’s internal communication and online teams to ensure alignment of regional internal Regional Management for the purpose of supporting efficient dissemination of key management information to staff across the region

 

What are the primary linkages for this post?

  • Liaises with IH and country Communications teams
  • Work closely with the regional program and HR team to identify stories and effective contribute to knowledge management

Qualification

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

  • Degree or certificate in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of internal communications, press and PR department of a voluntary sector organization (in the development sector would be particularly advantageous)
  • Experience in event management and production of internal communications materials
  • Good skills in creating compelling visual materials for online and print use
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills
  • Able to make judgments and execute work autonomously
  • Excellent writing, editing and reviewing skills  - fluent in English and Thai.
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working in multiple different cultural contexts
  • Core software competencies : Adobe Creative Suite, Multimedia database, Photo and Video editing, PowerPoint. Experience with website maintenance / back ends an asset.

 

Level of Contact with Children :

Level 2 – Regular direct contact with children/children related information and/or in a position of authority over staff with direct contact with children

 

Physical Environment :

May be “ typically office environment”, note if heavy lifting, climbing, excess tract etc.
