Job description

Purpose of the Position

The staff member will work in close cooperation with the supervisor and other communication colleagues, serve as the team’s primary focal point for UNICEF brand management and increased visibility, working with high profile supporters of UNICEF, organizing events and carrying out selected operational and administrative functions in relation to media engagement, production and promotion of communication content and tools, social mobilization, advocacy and partnership for promotion of UNICEF communication materials/messages.

 

Major Responsibilities

  1. Works closely with supervisor and communication colleagues to strengthen brand visibility by assisting in the organization of events, public activities and campaigns that promote the UNICEF brand, proactively liaising with partners and relevant agencies. Assists in the production of relevant and high-quality brand visibility materials.
  2. Serves as primary focal point for brand management for the Communication section. Assists in the design and implementation of brand quality control processes for UNICEF Thailand Country Office. Maintains brand management resources and provides guidance to colleagues on the use of the UNICEF brand and branded materials.
  3. Serves as primary focal point for increased engagement with celebrities and high profile supporters of UNICEF in Thailand. Works closely with supervisor to effectively and regularly engage with existing high profile supporters. Identifies potential new supporters and works with colleagues to build engagement and commitment to child rights and to UNICEF’s work.
  4. Supports regular communication with internal and external partners to strengthen effective implementation of the communication work plan. Assists in building and strengthening partnerships with influencers and decision makers, including high profile supporters, media, government partners, civil society and the private sector through effective coordination, collaboration and communication. Supports the production and promotion of communication content and tools.
  5. Provides key operational and administrative support functions in relation to work planning, monitoring and the procurement of services to achieve communication results. This includes the preparation of work plans, TORs, contracts, and other documents for partnerships, services and supplies. Follows through on monitoring activities/budgets and processing necessary actions in adherence with UNICEF policies and procedures, rules and regulations, using the UNICEF system.
  6. Performs other duties as required.

Qualification

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • Completion of secondary education. University degree with training in relevant field is preferred, supplemented by technical courses in journalism, mass communication, or related field.
  • Six years of progressively responsible journalism / communication and administrative work, of which experience working with the media, senior figures and high profile personalities and others, preferably in English medium at international/national level.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Thai with excellent drafting ability in English.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to research, analyze, evaluate and synthesize information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to express clearly and concisely thoughts and ideas in written and oral forms.
  • Good networking skill to build and leverage a diverse network of contacts within the region and with all functional areas in the office.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments within the deadlines and adapt to changing demands and circumstances.
  • Computer proficiency and good knowledge of computer applications, including data management and web-design.
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural team and establish harmonious & effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
