Job description

UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office is seeking an individual consultant to provide technical support to the Education unit in support the ongoing work under the Education section on Youth and Adolescents development and on Children with Disabilities (CWD).

 

Work Assignment:

Under the overall supervision of the Youth and Adolescents Development Specialist, the consultant will undertake the following assignments:

  1. Assist in the collection and dissemination of information and evidence base of available information relating to adolescents and CWD (research, reports, documents, studies from varied sectors and fields (health, education, protection and well-being etc.)
  2. Support innovative research with young people, with adolescents participatory research including adolescents participation in peace building and conflict analysis, post 2015 agenda, Young Key Affected Population (YKAP) etc.
  3. Support development of key products which can be used for advocacy and Knowledge Management related to participation of Adolescents and CWD and their carers and duty barriers.
  4. Help identify institutions and individuals working on Adolescents and CWD issues in the region to build partnerships. Liaise with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth preparation and assist in planning and conduct of meetings and events.
  5. Work with the supervisor to finalize the background documents as well as organizational aspects relating to Adolescents and CWD programming.
  6. Assist in preparation of reports, concept notes and proposals to raise resources for adolescents and CWD programming in the region.

Estimated Duration of Contract: April 2015 – February 2016 (11 months)

Travel: Official travel may be required upon request from Country Offices

Deliverables:

Monthly report of the work assignment performed as agreed with the supervisor and satisfactory results achieved.

Qualification

Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • University degree in Education, Human Development or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Fluent English writing skills and ability to edit and produce synopsis. Knowledge of any of the languages of the region desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with current regional and international issues in Adolescence, Education and Gender.
  • Demonstrated capacity for on-time delivery / achievement of deadlines, within budget.
  • Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Sets high standards for quality of work and consistently achieves project goals.
